Terror in the news

Will your kids be named Dhimmi?
Henry Lamb
Monday, April 17, 2006
`We -- with God's help -- call on every Muslim who believes in God and wishes to be rewarded to comply with God's order to kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they find it,.''

Conservatives tackle Tamil tigers
By John Lawrence
Thursday, April 13, 2006

At the present furious rate at which the Conservatives are accomplishing things in this first session of the 39th Parliament of Canada, everything they set out to do should be finished before the other parties are able to even organize their thoughts.

War for Oil
By Congressman Mac Collins (Ret. R-GA)
Monday, April 3, 2006

For 22 years -- until Sept. 11, 2001 -- the lack of a military response to terrorist acts on US assets and interests built up our enemys strength and landed the United States in the mess it confronts today.

Re-Thinking Iraq
By Alan Caruba
Monday, March 27, 2006

Americans are at a place roughly analogous to the end of World War II. They wanted to demobilize the huge military machine that defeated our enemies and there was much opposition to the Marshall Plan to save Europe from Soviet domination. It was "mission accomplished" and to hell with the rest of the world. Only the rest of the world was not about to comply.

Give war a chance
by Klaus Rohrich
Tuesday, March 21, 2006

I recently saw a car with a bumper sticker that said "Give war a chance". Wow, thats a difference, considering how the forces of the opposite view have been demonstrating against war on this, the third anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war. There appear to be two separate forces at work in efforts to put an end to the war, neither of which appears to be helpful to the overall strategy of combating terrorism.

Are We Winning the War Against International Terrorism?
by J.B. Williams
Wednesday, March 8, 2006

Not to put too fine a point on it, but not yet!

This broadly titled enemy known as international terrorism may prove to be the most formidable foe ever known to the free world. It is rooted in Islamic extremism, fueled predominately by a primitive desire to vanquish all infidels, beginning with Israel and ending with much of the free world.

Winning the long war
Henry Lamb
Monday, February 27, 2006

The United States has never been in a war like the current war against terrorism. In previous wars, the enemy could be clearly defined, measured, and defeated. In the current war, the enemy has not yet been clearly defined, or measured. Whether the enemy will be defeated is an open question.

No more acquiescence
By John Lawrence
Wednesday, February 22, 2006

I have received plenty of emails in the last week from Muslims. To be fair to those who wrote to me, with the exception of one individual, they were all well thought and written with respect. The individuals who penned them are a credit to their religion.

US Eavesdropping Illegal Wiretapping and Politics
by J.B. Williams
Saturday, February 18, 2006

Ill begin by stating for the record that I am not an expert on counter-terrorism, Intelligence Operations or National Security, which makes me just like 99.9% of those speaking out on these topics today, including too many purely partisan politicians eager to politicize all of it in search of recently elusive political power.

The Coming War of Mass Destruction
By William Mann,
Lt. Col. USA (Ret)
Thursday, February 9, 2006

There are many voices "crying out in the wilderness: Make way for the coming of the Lord." But the 'lord' these voices cry for is not Jesus Christ, but rather the Mahdi, the 'messiah prophet' who will establish Islam where all the infidels will be slain once and for all.

The trouble with kamikazes
By John Burtis
Monday, January 9, 2006

Ah, John Dean. I remember when he was a Republican, shopped at Brooks Brothers and told President Nixon that there was a cancer on the Presidency during the Watergate fiasco. Of course, today he's a liberal Democrat and serves as an expert on impeachable offenses for the talking heads and select members of his party's Politburo. But it was a nice turn of phrase.

Not one cent for tribute

By John Burtis
Sunday, January 8, 2006

During the course of World War II, Winston Churchill termed military operations in the air, on land and at sea--triphibious warfare. And by August of 1945, The United States had become very good at their application.

Iraqi vote: Voice of the people
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
Monday, December 19, 2005

"The time has come to build Iraq with our own hands and to use the great wealth that God has granted to Iraq to rebuild Iraq so that we can turn our poverty into wealth and our misery into happiness." The words of Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, according to the AP.

Hurray!
McCain Wins One for the Terrorists!

by J.B. Williams
Saturday, December 17, 2005

The International Guardian reads "The White House bowed to international and congressional pressure on Thursday and abandoned its opposition to Senate legislation prohibiting the use of cruel, inhuman or degrading interrogation methods of detainees in US custody around the world."

"We've sent a message to the world that the United States is not like the terrorists," Senator McCain said, sitting next to the president in the Oval Office on Thursday. "This will help us enormously in winning the hearts and minds of the people throughout the world in winning the war on terror." Really--How?

Defining victory in Iraq
Henry Lamb
Monday, December 12, 2005

Victory in Iraq can be declared when there is an elected representative government in place that controls Iraqi security forces of sufficient strength and experience to prevent Islamic fundamentalists from gaining control of the nation by force of arms.

Settling in amidst bombs and bombast

The day had started pretty normally for this part of the world, a suicide bomber climbed on to a bus in a bus station, just across the river, not far from the Green Zone and blew himself and some 30 passengers into the next world. At the same time the spate of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) attacks continued throughout the country. For the average citizen, life continues to be difficult, but from my conversations with our local colleagues it would appear that there are some glimmers of hope. I admit that my colleagues are not a fully representative cross-section of Iraqi society, but nevertheless I detect some hope that progress will be made soon.

Methodism and the War In Iraq
By Lloyd C. Leemis
Wednesday, November 16, 2005

A funny thing happened on the road to Baghdad. It seems that while Methodist bishops were meeting in North Carolina to adopt a resolution calling for an end to what they proclaimed to be an "unjust war" in Iraq, a group of Iraqi Kurds were taking out advertisements in the Wall Street Journal thanking America for rescuing them from the tyrrany of Saddam Hussein. Sounds funny, doesn't it? It gets funnier.

War Games...Fighting an Uphill Battle
By Felicia (Fee) Benamon
Thursday, November 3, 2005

Here we go again! I'm sure by now the American public knows of the agenda in the mainstream media to try to make the American troops look like the aggressors in the War on Terror. I sneered at the latest attempt by the media to make our troops look bad...the reports of burnt bodies of Taliban fighters U.S. troops "supposedly" desecrated.  I will side with the troops as they give their reasons for burning the bodies (Stench Prompted U.S. Troops to Burn Corpses )...they simply reeked!

Treacherous Journalism
By Alan Caruba
Tuesday, November 1, 2005

My first response to the huge article that began under the newspapers banner, four columns wide, ten and a half inches deep, was one of revulsion. It was Saturday, October 22, and, above the main headline was a paragraph in large, boldface typeface that read, "Insurgent attacks kill four more American troops, pushing the total number of U.S. military deaths near 2,000 since the start of the Iraq war. Page. 8"

U.S. troops: 2,000 deaths for what?
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
Thursday, October 27, 2005

Congratulations to the stalwart who remain loyal to Iraqi freedoms ensconced. Right now the Iraqis are waging a war against their own Muslim fanatics. But the sane determine to win their democracy in place of Saddam Husseins despotic grip.

Negotiating With Our Murderers
By Alan Caruba
Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Making the rounds of the opinion editorial pages of various U.S. dailies, Prof. Allen J. Zerkin, has been urging the United States to begin opening channels to al Qaeda for the purpose of seeking "a truce&no matter how much that galls us."

The Clinton scar on America
By Felicia (Fee) Benamon
Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Former President Bill Clinton and his administration undoubtedly left a huge scar on America. Most notably from the neglect in national security. Bill Clinton's approach to dealing with terrorism has been to ignore it, hoping that terrorists will eventually leave us alone. I was surprised to hear of CBS's interview of Ex-FBI Chief Louis Freeh's testimony of what he saw under the Clinton administration, in response to terrorism.  Freeh has decided to come public in his new book My FBI and has agreed to sit down and discuss to CBS about his strained relationship with Former President Clinton.  How then President Clinton, hampered his efforts to bring the terror suspects in the 1996 Khobar Towers terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia, to justice.

Creating freedom in Iraq
Henry Lamb
Monday, October 17, 2005

Regardless of which way the Constitutional referendum in Iraq turns out, the people win. The bloody process of making a government for Iraq is not that different from the bloody process of making a government for the United States. What is important for both countries is that the people are making a government for themselves, rather than submitting to the rule of a dictator.

Hearts and Minds of the Umma
By Alan Caruba
Saturday, October 15, 2005

“We must repeat what we mentioned previously, that the majority of Muslims don’t comprehend this and possibly could not even imagine it. For that reason, many of your Muslim admirers amongst the common folk are wondering about your attacks on the Shia. The sharpness of this questioning increases when the attacks are on one of their mosques…this matter won’t be acceptable to the Muslim populace.”

What happens in Bali tonight
by S. Jameson
Friday, October 14, 2005

We must admit there have been times when we have all called into question the United States’ reasons as to why we are fighting this war on terror.  Our confusion over this war against terrorism has been formed by the bombardment of the press and their skilled abilities to present an all out deluge of photographs, terror alerts, video tapes, and biased spinning of opinions, thusly creating a misunderstanding by in large the world over.  We have been led to question the United States involvement, and to suppose that our interests lie solely in oil.  Many have been left with the impression that President Bush and his cronies are all Imperialist, gun-slinging cowboys riding off into the sunset of YEEHAW Americana.

Appeasing Terrorists
By Felicia (Fee) Benamon
Wednesday, October 5, 2005

I think Americans need to be reminded of who their enemy is. Why do we placate terrorists? Or terror suspects? We seem to want to be so accommodating when all they want is to annihilate us, enslave us, and force hardcore Islamic beliefs on us.  Remember 9/11 hero Todd Beamer and crew ( The Heroes of Flight 93 )? They did not try to "negotiate" or sweet-talk the 911 hijackers.  Todd Beamer's words were "Let's Roll", in other words, let's kick some butt!!

9-11 Past, Present & Future
By Alan Caruba
Friday, September 9, 2005

It is fitting to review the failures and successes of our nations intelligence and law enforcement agencies as we contemplate the anniversary of September 11, 2001.

We should celebrate the fact that there has not been a terrorist act since that dread date. We may never know how many plots have been thwarted, but we do know that the US has had real success in degrading the ability of our enemies to inflict harm upon us. So far.

Whining isn't helpful
by Klaus Rohrich
Thursday, August 25, 2005

Winning or losing a war depends in large part on how committed the combatants are to victory. The whining and moaning about the so-called war on terrorism is increasing in both numbers and volume and is amplified by much of the media, which has assumed the role of megaphone for the political left. The number of individuals who insist that this war is not one we can win are increasing and has even spread into the presidents own party.

Reasonable Bush: Iraq, stay the coursel
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
Thursday, August 25, 2005

Of course. There is no other choice but to stay the course unless America and other freedom-based nations want to be overrun by Muslim terrorists. It comes down to that stark fact.

Naming them by their results
By Gary Reid
Friday, August 19, 2005

In Iraq there is a real war. In Canada there is a semantics war.

A big flap broke out a short while ago because large media organizations, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the British Broadcasting Corporation and Reuters were seen as "soft-pedalling" terrorism by choosing more politically correct terms to describe the suicide bombers as "bombers" or "attackers", not terrorists.

Europe Decides:
Nothing Politically Correct about Terrorism!

by J.B. Williams
Monday, August 8, 2005

The inventors of political correctness, the lords of tolerance and restraint, the defenders of the indefensible, champions of understanding and global thinking, have just become the first in the world to run out of patience, understanding and yes, tolerance for terrorism&

Terrorism Allows No Room for Negotiation
By Nancy Salvato,
Tuesday, July 26, 2005

It was discovered in Munich, during the 1972 Olympic Games, that terrorists could not be dissuaded from carrying out heinous acts of cold blood against innocents when motivated by ethnic hatred or religious fanaticism. It also became apparent that the rest of the world could and would carry on as though the fedayeen's (men of sacrifice) acts of barbarism were of no particular cause for concern. To emphasize this, The Olympic Games continued with full media coverage after the murder of 11 members of the Israeli team by PLO affiliates referred to as "Black September".

CBS/Infinity Radio: Saving Us from the Truth

By Frank Salvato
Monday, July 25, 2005

"Those who think terrorism is incident specific dont understand the terrorist mind." John Howard, Australian Prime Minister, July 21, 2005.

Exactly two-weeks to the day, terrorist bombers have struck in London again. Using materials identified by British authorities as identical to the first attacks, terrorists have succeeded in shutting down that countrys capitol, finance center and most populace city. They have once again wreaked havoc in London, leaving its people wary and insecure about their surroundings. So, it is surprising that CBS/Infinity Radio would pass on an opportunity to carry advertising for a symposium on terrorism designed to educate the American people on the terrorist mindset. But that is exactly what they did.

Saddam and al Qaeda: There's abundant evidence of connections

By Claudia Rosett, Opinionjournal.com/
Wednesday July 13, 2005

President Bush has given some good speeches lately, including his talk June 29 at Fort Bragg, N.C., in which he stressed some of the reasons for going into Iraq, and his address this past Monday at the FBI Academy at Quantico, Va., in which he talked about the role of intelligence in defeating terrorists and stressed that "the heart of our strategy is this: Free societies are peaceful societies."

Canadian Muslims finally speak up

By John Lawrence
Saturday, July 23, 2005

In a move that was long overdue, muslim religious leaders from all over Canada have joined together to denounce Islamic terrorists for what they are, evil men who hide behind a religious cloak.

CBS/Infinity Radio blacks out anti-terror conference
By Frank Salvato,
Wednesday, July 20, 2005

CBS/Infinity Radio has refused to air paid commercial announcements for an upcoming non-partisan symposium on terrorism, claiming "people might be too emotionally affected" by it.

The Peoples Truth Forum, which is sponsoring the symposium titled The Radical-Islamist Threat to World Peace and National Security to be held in Connecticut on Sept. 21, was rebuffed by CBS/Infinity Radio when the PTFs president, Jeffrey Epstein, tried to purchase commercial time to publicize the event. Extreme Measures: Inside the Mind of an Islamic Terrorist

By Alexander Rubin
Friday, July 15, 2005

In a trial that has the potential to shape Hollands future, the self-confessed killer of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh publicly spoke out on Tuesday for the first time since his murder, arousing feelings of frustrated rage and building fear in Europeans throughout the continent.

I was a Teenage Terrorist

By Andrew Walden, FrontPageMagazine.com
Friday, July 15, 2005

In 1996, Abdurahman Khadr, then 13-year-old terrorist-in-training, stood face to face with his idol: Osama bin Laden. Before long, Khadr would join the ranks of al-Qaedas jihad in Afghanistan, fulfilling the calling of his hard-line Islamist family by waging war against the hated Americans. Now, after a stint at Guantanamo Bay prison, Abdurahman will become an American heroat least if Hollywood has its way.

Excusing terrorism
by Klaus Rohrich
Monday, July 11, 2005

It wasnt long after the smoke began to clear that the serial terrorism apologists started coming out of the woodwork. "Its Americas fault that this happened." they say. "If they hadnt started that war in Afghanistan and Iraq, then the bombing wouldnt have happened."

Islamic Jihadists Send us a Reminder
Alan Caruba
Saturday, July 9, 2005

If anyone still thinks that the worldwide Islamic Jihad is going to go away simply because we have had some success in Afghanistan and are paving the way for a democratic government in Iraq, the attack in London as the G-8 meeting was to convene should dispel such notions.

9-11: We've Already Seen the Whites of their Eyes!
By Nancy Salvato,
Saturday, July 9, 2005

The devastating attacks against Londoners today by terrorists illustrated the horror that is waiting to be unleashed by those who take advantage of every opportunity and freedom extended to them and use it to hurt those undeserving of their ire.

Al Qaeda hits London

By John Lawrence
Saturday, July 9, 2005

In a group of cowardly acts, terrorists yesterday detonated four bombs amid London's public transit system. It is presently unclear as to what those responsible hoped to accomplish. Some reports alluded to ties to the war in Iraq or the G8 summit.

Can Terrorism Be Defeated?
by J.B. Williams
Friday, July 8, 2005

In a swift response to yet another Islamic terrorist attack, this time in downtown London at rush hour, Britains Prime Minister Blair stated, "It is important that those engaged in terrorism realize that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world."

Is China preparing for war?

By John Lawrence
Thursday, July 7, 2005

China is spending a great deal of time and money buying up a good deal of the world's present and future raw materials. From oil to copper, natural gas to iron ore, industrial assets to mining companies, China is moving ahead exponentially. Couple that with their expanding naval presence throughout Asia and the Middle East, as well as their proliferating nuclear program, and throw in their conflict with Taiwan and their claim to its sovereignty, and one would start to wonder if we weren't watching the rise of Germany in the late 1930's and early 1940's.
