Toronto Pubs and Bars
Runyx
By Judi McLeod
There's something alluring about the sophisticated atmosphere at downtown Runyx, just steps away from the Eaton Centre at 108 Dundas St. W.
Candles flicker from every nook and cranny; there's a special room with an inviting fireplace at the back, in the lower level. The crowd who caters to Runyx is an upbeat blend of tourists and business executives.
The Abbot on the Hill
by The Cooks
Located steps from the Summerhill Subway, at 1276 Yonge Street, The Abbot on the Hill is the newest ‘neighborhood’ pub. Not unlike its older cousin to the north, The Abbot at 3367 Yonge, where the patrons make it a common place to meet with friends or stop in for a friendly drink. The fine food and atmosphere is always one of good friends and great food.
Boardwalk BBQ Pub
By Judi McLeod
It is not even arguable that of the thousands of restaurants available in the city of Toronto, the Boardwalk BBQ Pub, Lakeshore Boulevard East at Coxwell, has the most coveted of locations. Set on Toronto's famous boardwalk with Lake Ontario as a backdrop, the restaurant makes the most of its setting. Open all year, the lure of the Boardwalk BBQ Pub brings lineups all summer long. Singularly pristine in its setting of snow, in winter months the Boardwalk is a tonic for the city-bound soul.
C'est Cheese:
By Julia Rufo
Having met eight years ago at the Movenpick, Vanessa Chuvalo and Laurie Anne Brennan thought nothing of the fact that they worked together.
When Vanessa and Laurie Anne met for the second time at Jump, where they worked together again, they knew that they were meant to be together. In business that is.
It seemed as though they were always meeting up in the food business, and that was enough motivation for them to open C'est Cheese, located at 305 Roncesvalles Ave.
ein-stein Pub
By Michelle Runch
Located directly across the street from the University of Toronto's campus, ein-stein cafe and pub has one of the best locations in Toronto.
On College St., just west of Beverly, ein-stein is sure to lure in almost any university student with its welcoming patio and comfy couch area inside.
Miller Tavern
By The Cooks
Better known to many of us in the more mature age bracket as The Jolly Miller, The Miller Tavern has come back to life, better than ever and with a flare second to none.
Nestled in Hoggs Hollow just south of York Mills off Yonge Street, The Miller Tavern, an historic site, has been revitalized into a great neighborhood spot offering "serious seafood, steaks and an oyster bar".
Rustic, relaxed and upscale, it combines fine dining, an attractive patio, and large open bar on the lower level featuring the oyster bar and hot grill.
