Better known to many of us in the more mature age bracket as The Jolly Miller, The Miller Tavern has come back to life, better than ever and with a flare second to none.
Nestled in Hoggs Hollow just south of York Mills off Yonge Street, The Miller Tavern, an historic site, has been revitalized into a great neighborhood spot offering "serious seafood, steaks and an oyster bar".
Rustic, relaxed and upscale, it combines fine dining, an attractive patio, and large open bar on the lower level featuring the oyster bar and hot grill.
The different sections of the restaurant offers slight variations of the menu, fine dining reserved to the upper floor and covered patio area. One can sample an array of starters from smoked salmon, Thai salad, calamari, shrimp and, of course, oysters served both cooked and on the half shell. Happy hour between 4-6 p.m. occurs daily for anyone who feels they must try them all& (like us). We recommend you do!
Fine dining selections include steaks; a flat iron steak prepared to perfection served with a lobster potato cake, which is a delicious addition, fish, served in a variety of ways with chef-suggested sides& (one with a wasabi cream, sure to awaken your taste buds and sinuses).
Stop by the rejuvenated old stomping grounds for a pint, be amazed at the transformation--stay for a bite. Youll return for a wonderful dinner with great, friendly service. On one of our visits, during the World Hockey series, we were delighted to see some out-of-town diners that couldnt be missed, Wayne and the lovely Janet Gretzky. Another regular is Paul Coffey for those sports minded fans in the neighborhood.
It has certainly become one of the Cooks' regular stops now. Make it yours.
Dinner for two with tip $100.00.
