Located directly across the street from the University of Toronto's campus, ein-stein cafe and pub has one of the best locations in Toronto.

On College St., just west of Beverly, ein-stein is sure to lure in almost any university student with its welcoming patio and comfy couch area inside.

My first order of business was to ask owner, O.J. Kness, how he came up with the name. Well, as everyone knows Albert Einstein is a famous inventor and being across the street from the famous U of T, O.J. wanted something that would reflect U of T and its students. Then there is the second meaning, which illustrates the bar aspect of ein-stein's. 'Ein' meaning one and 'stein' meaning glass or as O.J. puts it, "a stein of beer."

With weekly features including Open Mike on Wednesdays and Free Pool Sundays and no cover charge, ein-stein cafe and pub caters to everyone's taste. Not to mention, ein-stein also has a jukebox, which everyone is welcome to use. This means you can choose your own music, and you're not stuck listing to the same type of music all night long.

Catering to mainly the business class during the day and the university crowd during the evening, ein-stein offers a vast variety of foods and not just your regular pub-grub either. A menu featuring a smorgasbord of appetizers, fresh "from scratch" daily soups and specials, piled-high sandwiches, burgers and pub fare. I find it important to mention that ein-stein had sold over half a million chicken wings, which are also, customer rated "best wings" in Toronto.

Ein-stein offers a dozen beers on tap (one cider, four imports, and seven micros). They are also one of Ontario's most prolific purveyors of Jagermeister! Mostly due to the use of the Jagermeister machine that pours the magical elixir at 10 degrees Celsius.

Keep in mind the ein-stein motto, "where great minds drink alike" and pop in for a beer or a shot of Jagermeister. It will be well worth your while!
