For those of us who cant afford to escape this freezing Canadian winter with a trip to sunny Mexico, a night out at La Mexicana might be the next best thing. This Mexican oasis is a perfect place to warm up with your amigos while enjoying all the best that Mexican cuisine has to offer.
My friend Jennie and I went there for dinner on a particularly frigid night, and upon entering we were both struck by the warmth of La Mexicana's owner and chef Lucero Wong, and her lovely restaurant. Decorated in rich earth tones, an abundance of fresh flowers, cactuses, and pottery, this "spic and span" clean eatery made it easy for us to forget about the icy winds outside.
We started with complimentary nacho chips and salsa, both of which are made fresh on site. The chips were surprisingly light and crisp, while the salsa was just the way I like it, spicy and not too chunky.
